This year we will be hosting our 4th annual CanalFEST on November 2, 2019 from 9AM-4PM. CanalFEST is a free community event. This is Augusta’s chance to gather in our fabulous park, and celebrate all our canal and community have to offer together! We’re planning a full day of family fun, fresh air, fitness, and food. CanalFEST starts with our 5K for a small $10 donation enjoy a run on our beautiful canal trails. Then the festival will feature a full day of FREE sports demos including bike agility, kayak, and fly-fishing lessons. Also enjoy raffles, tours, live music, exhibitors, food trucks and much more. We expect thousands to attend. Proceeds support the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area’s recreation and education programs. We need volunteers for many tasks, but the AU faculty and students will mainly be helping in the children’s area with story time, games, arts and crafts, and more. Our children’s area has a textile and water theme to teach children about the history of the canal. But, we will also need volunteers for parking security (Eve St. or Sibley Mill), help exhibitors set up, work in various tents (registration, raffle, Subaru, VIP), manage a hot dog grill station, clean up throughout the festival, help take down exhibitors at end, or “floaters” to help around when needed.

Additional Supplies Needed: Any tools needed will be provided at the site.

Inclement Weather Plan: No, CanalFEST is a rain or shine event.

Restrictions: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Caretaker will need to sign a waiver for anyone under 18.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is funded through donations, memberships, grants and gifts. Our mission is to support the work of the Augusta Canal Authority as it strives to €œto preserve, develop and manage the trails and waterways in the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area as a public resource.
