On Saturday, November 2nd, we will have 3 areas of opportunity. When volunteers arrive on campus, they will have the option to choose the area that they are most interested in serving. Volunteer opportunity #1 – Food Pantry. In the food pantry, volunteers will pack bags of non-perishable food items, distribute fresh breads & produce, stock shelves, organize food, etc. Volunteer Opportunity #2 – Clothes Closet. In the clothes closet, volunteers will organize & sort through donated clothing items, hang new clothes in the closet, and assist our guest find items that they are needing. Volunteer Opportunity # 3 – Adopt-a-Block Team. The adopt-a-block volunteers will pack up clothes, food, and other necessary items and will then distribute these items to our neighbors without transportation. Adopt-a-block team leaders will guide this project and all first time volunteers will be partnered with veteran volunteers who will show you the ropes.
Additional Supplies Needed: The Dream Center will provide all necessary supplies. We only ask that volunteers dress comfortably and plan to stay for the entire event (9am -12noon).
Mission Statement: Helping people reach their fullest potential. The Augusta Dream Center exists to serve low income, homeless, and underserved individuals and families in the Augusta/South Augusta communities. It is our hope that through building relationships, providing community, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ that we are able to remove barriers and help people reach their fullest potential. Our vision is to build a community of resilient people whose lives have been changed through God’s love.
Organizer: Susan Berry , Volunteer Coordinator
Inclement Weather Plan: If it is raining, no worries. We have a huge gymnasium where our service projects will be hosted.
Minimum Age to Participate: 8
Other Restrictions: We prefer children ages 8-12 to be with their parent/guardian throughout the service project. Children over 12 years of age are welcome to serve independently on a project without their parent/guardian.
