Phinizy Swamp Nature Park AM Shift

As a non profit public nature park, Phinizy Swamp has need for volunteers to develop the park and keep it clean. Join us to build additions to our playground, clean trails, and more! Spend the day working in nature surrounded by wildlife, listening to birds sing while you make the Park a better place.
Other tasks include:
– Repairing our boardwalks
– Cleaning inside of our administration and education buildings
– Removing trash and overgrowth from our trails
– Construct a compost bin
– Clean gutters and weed
We will provide tools however, the additional items listed would be a great help.
- Sunscreen/Bug repellent
- Battery powered drill
- Reciprocating saw with blades (cordless or plug in)
- Circular saw (cordless or plug in)
- Jigsaw (cordless or plug in)
Children as young as 8 years old are welcome to come and clean up trash. Most other projects will involve power tools and will not be appropriate for children younger than 18. A parental consent form will be required.
DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Take Bobby Jones 520 to exit 10 (Doug Barnard Pkwy).
Turn right onto Doug Barnard, toward the Augusta Regional Airport.
Turn left onto Lock & Dam Rd – immediately after the Augusta Water Treatment Plant, but before the Augusta Regional Airport.
Turn left into Phinizy Swamp Nature Park – entrance is approx. 1 mile along Lock & Dam Rd, past the Mayor’s Fishing Pond & immediately after the Care Taker’s house.
When you enter the Nature Park you will see a public parking area to your left, please park here. We will meet at the picnic pavilion behind the silos.
