Days of Service is a special time each year when the faculty, staff, students, and families of Augusta University come together to positively impact our community through meaningful service in partnership with a wide variety of community partners across the CSRA like yours.
What is the deadline for submitting my organization’s project proposal?
Days of Service Community Partner Project Proposals should be submitted no later than June 30th to ensure consideration for inclusion as part of our Days of Service events. If you anticipate having an issue meeting that deadline please contact us and we’ll be happy to work with you.
Why are you requesting proposals in the spring for your Days of Service that takes place in November?
Once we close our project portal in June, we review all of the service projects that have been submitted, work with organizations on any refinements and adjustments to their proposals that need to be made and then our team keys each individual project (100+ proposals expected this year) into our volunteer registration system. This process generally takes most of the summer to complete in order to open up volunteer registration to our students and employee volunteers in August.
We would like to host projects at several different locations around town. Is this ok?
Yes. We encourage you to submit as many projects as needed. We have more than 1000 volunteers and are always looking for more projects to keep everyone engaged. Please note that each project location should be submitted as its own separate project proposal. Please do not try to combine projects on one proposal.
We want to participate in Days of Service, but I’m not sure about the best way to schedule my projects.
There is no required timeline for your service project. We simply ask that you work with your volunteers to schedule projects during the Days of Service timeframe that works well for you and your volunteers. If you need to adjust your projects outside of the month of November, please contact our office at 706-721-3596.
How do you determine which service projects are accepted as part of the AU Days of Service?
Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible when we are reviewing the project proposals. We do look for a few key project characteristics including:
- Is your project description compelling to volunteers? (Need help with this…let us know!)
- Is your project well-planned and organized?
- Are you responsive to any questions or feedback we may have about your project?
- Will you have adequate supplies and resources on sight for the AU volunteers?
- If your project is outdoors, do you have a rain plan in place?
When will we know if you’ve chosen our project to be a part of this year’s Days of Service event?
We will notify all community partners of their proposal status on or before the end of August.
Can Augusta University provide funding for my organization’s project?
No. Days of Service is a time for our students, employees and their families to give back to the community through service. Augusta University does not provide funding for these service projects.
Does Augusta University provide supplies for my organization’s project?
No. All community projects should be self-funded. Augusta University does not provide funding or supplies for these projects.
I have a project in mind, but it will require volunteers with a specific skillset (i.e. artists, carpenters, nurses, etc.) Is this something that I can request?
Yes. Our Augusta University family has a wide range of talents and skillsets. If you have a project in mind that might require a very specific skillset, please contact the Office of Volunteer Services at 706-721-3596.
I definitely want to participate, but I’m having a hard time coming up with a service project idea. What should I do?
We’re here to help. Please feel free to reach out to our Volunteer Services office at 706-721-3596 to talk through ideas and brainstorm on the best way to make your project a success.
I’m interested in submitting a virtual volunteer project. Is that okay?
Yes! We welcome and encourage you to submit virtual and in-person volunteer options. Both volunteer options are popular with our volunteers and are generally well-received during volunteer registration. If you are interested in creating a virtual volunteer service opportunity, but need some ideas, feel free to contact our office at 706-721-3596. We’re happy to share some ideas from past years.
