The Phinizy Center for Water Scieinces’ mission is to provide leadership for sustainable watersheds and economic vitality through research, education and by connecting people with nature.

The Phinizy Center for Water Sciences is located at 1858 Lock and Dam Road Augusta, GA 30906 at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. The park is open every day of the year from 7 am – 8 pm, closing early on shorter daylight seasons. It is FREE to come walk our trails and connect with nature by taking in our beautiful wetland scenes that is bountiful with wildlife. Our park is very welcoming to the everyday visitor with it’s boardwalks, beaten paths, outdoor classrooms, picnic pavilions, play area, event’s fields, bathrooms, wildlife viewing decks, etc. To keep up with the growing population of visitors to the park we depend on volunteers and volunteer groups to come out and help us with giving the park some TLC from repairing boardwalks to trail maintenance to litter pick up to small maintenance projects to taking down old structures, etc. We have been a part of this great Day of Service for 5+ years now and we hope to continue to have this relationship with your staff, faculty, students and family and friends. Projects may change due to priority projects that may take place between now and November 19th. But we ask the volunteer to be prepared for repairing boardwalks and structures, trail maintenance by cleaning up vegetation and litter off trails, litter pick up throughout the park, structure placement (placing kiosks), structure demolition, cleaning and organizing work sheds, maintenance to our pollinator patches, possible establishing a garden bed, vegetation removal, etc. If you like being surrounded by nature, great people and you don’t mind doing a little work, we would love to have you all out at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park!
